Hi everyone!
As I near the end of my time in WR60, I'm reflecting on the lessons and insights that will stay with me long after the course ends.
Twitter Update
For our final Twitter Tuesday, I shared several key takeaways from my journey in WR60:
The Importance of Credible Sources
One of the most crucial skills I've gained is understanding the value of credible sources in crafting persuasive and reliable writing. Check out my tweet here.
Animals and Their Fears
I discovered that animals are just as scared of us as we are of them. Here's my tweet on that.
Impact of Trash on Urban Wildlife
It's heartbreaking to learn how much trash is found in the stomachs of urban coyotes, highlighting the environmental impact of our waste. Read more in my tweet.
Humans as a Problem
I've come to understand that humans, being at the top of the food chain, often create environments that disregard the lives of animals. I shared my thoughts on this here.
Appreciating My Peers
Finally, I've been continually impressed by the intelligence and creativity of my classmates. Reading their writing and opinions has been incredibly inspiring. See my tweet about it.
Future Research
In addition to wrapping up this class, I followed some accounts that will allow me to keep pursuing research in the subjects that I am most interested in. My future aspiration is to become a physician/physician assistant in the fields of either pediatric oncology, pediatrics, neonatology, or pediatric orthopedic surgery.
The Lancet Oncology: I followed this page because of my interest in general oncology. I would love to pursue oncology in the future because my favorite people to work with during my time volunteering at hospitals were oncology patients. I admire their strength and positivity, despite the uncertainty of their circumstances.
American Academy of Pediatrics: I followed this page because of my love for pediatrics. My favorite unit in the hospital I volunteered at was the pediatrics/PICU because I love working with the children there. I think they are all so brave and mature, and it is my dream to save children's lives some day.
Stanford Neonatology: I followed this page because I am from the bay area, which is where Stanford University is. Since it is home for me, I would love to attend medical/PA school there; the campus is beautiful, so close to home, and there are so many opportunities for me there. I also have an interest in neonatology, which is a medical specialty that treats newborns and infants.
American Academy of Physician Associates: I followed this page because I want to be updated on information and statuses regarding PA school. I recently have been looking into PA school because it aligns more with my desired work-life balance and the idea of working in multiple different fields.
American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology: I followed this page because I am also interested in Hematology, which focuses on blood and blood disorders, specifically in children for me. Growing up, I knew several children who had blood disorders, and watching them be treated and accomplish amazing things now motivates me to help children who are going through similar things.
Conclusion
Thank you for following along with my Twitter Tuesday series. It's been an amazing journey, and I'm grateful for all the support and engagement!
